A Master of His Art

The eminent Professor Khalessi has been described as “the father of ear surgery in Iran.” “His supreme clinical acumen and operative abilities could, perhaps, only be surpassed by his own sense of morality and ethics.”

Professor Khalessi returned to the country of his birth after completing fellowships in Europe and the USA in the fields of Otology and Neurotology. He sacrificed opportunities abroad in order to serve his people. He inspired his colleagues with the vision of delivering world-class otological healthcare to Iran. To this end, he coordinated research efforts in the drive to establish a scientific foundation for clinical practice. He led advancements in medical education and created opportunities for postgraduate training. He pioneered surgical techniques and brought international innovations in Otology to his country. He was the first to perform a cochlear implant in Iran. Over the course of his career, during which he performed thousands of operations, he provided hope and relief to patients when all else failed them.

Emeritus Professor Khalessi was seen by his students, his peers, and his patients as a wise and patient mentor, a devoted disciple of his science, an impeccable clinician, an operative virtuoso, and an inspiring leader of his field - truly, a master of his art.
